During control measures conducted by the State Environmental Safety Service over the past week, numerous instances of illegal tree felling were uncovered across Baku, Ganja, and the Absheron, Khachmaz, and Ismayilli districts.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the State Environmental Safety Service released an official statement regarding these violations.
Investigations revealed that illegal logging activities in several locations—including Vusal Maharramov Street in the Binagadi district of Baku, Bulbul Street in the Gulustan settlement of Ganja, H.Z. Taghiyev Street in Khirdalan, the Masazir settlement of the Absheron district, and the villages of Tangaalti in the Guba district, Chaykanari in the Khachmaz district, and Zarnava in the Ismayilli district—have caused significant environmental damage. The total financial impact of the destruction is estimated at 90,760 AZN.
Because the extent of the damage caused to the greenery in each of these incidents constitutes a criminal offense, all collected materials have been forwarded to law enforcement agencies for further legal assessment and prosecution.
The protection of Azerbaijan's ecological landscape remains a priority for state authorities. The Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources frequently conducts monitoring operations to prevent deforestation and ensure the sustainable management of the country's forestry assets, which are vital for maintaining biodiversity and combating soil erosion.
