The Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) of the Republic of Azerbaijan has issued an official appeal to road users regarding the snowy and unfavorable weather conditions currently affecting the country. According to Operative Information Center-OMM, the ministry emphasized that in line with previous forecasts, weather and road conditions in the capital Baku, as well as in other cities and regions, are creating significant challenges for both drivers and pedestrians.
The MIA highlighted that the current situation directly impacts road safety, requiring heightened attention and responsibility from all citizens. The ministry noted that the likelihood of slippery road surfaces is high, particularly in areas experiencing snowfall, which increases the risk of skidding and raises the probability of traffic accidents. Drivers are strongly advised to maintain a safe distance from other vehicles, adhere to speed limits, avoid sharp maneuvers, and strictly follow all traffic regulations.
Pedestrians have also been urged to use designated crossings, account for slippery conditions when walking, and remain vigilant regarding vehicle movements to ensure their personal safety. The MIA reiterated that risks can only be minimized through careful behavior and mutual understanding among all road participants. In Azerbaijan, such seasonal weather shifts often prompt state agencies to activate emergency protocols to ensure the continuity of transport infrastructure and public safety, especially in mountainous regions and urban centers like Baku.
