Prevot noted that Israel's strikes in Lebanon, carried out in response to Hezbollah, are continuing in a disproportionate and indiscriminate manner. Addressing the issue of the EU-Israel Association Agreement, the minister stated that Belgium supports the continued suspension of certain parts of the deal. Prevot emphasized that a full suspension of the agreement is not possible under current circumstances: "Therefore, we consider it appropriate to maintain the temporary suspension of at least some of its provisions," he added.
The conflict between Israel and Hezbollah has escalated significantly, drawing widespread international concern regarding the humanitarian situation in Lebanon and the potential for a broader regional war. The EU-Israel Association Agreement, which has been in effect since 2000, forms the legal framework for trade and political relations between the European Union and Israel.
