Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has stated that Tehran will only accept a "fair and comprehensive" agreement in negotiations with Washington.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the minister voiced these remarks during a meeting with his Chinese counterpart, Wang Yi, in Beijing. Araghchi emphasized that Iran's position remains steadfast, asserting that any potential deal must be rooted in mutual respect, balanced conditions, and the alignment of interests for both parties. He further noted that Tehran would reject any terms dictated unilaterally and is only prepared for an agreement established on an equal footing.
This diplomatic outreach comes at a critical juncture as international observers monitor the potential for renewed dialogue between Tehran and the administration of US President Donald Trump. Historically, relations between the two nations have been defined by tensions surrounding the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) and various economic sanctions. Iran has repeatedly maintained that a "fair and balanced" approach is a prerequisite for any meaningful diplomatic breakthrough with Washington, while China continues to play a significant role as a mediator and strategic partner for Tehran in the region.
