The Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) has strongly condemned the airstrikes conducted by the United States this evening against coastal surveillance facilities in the country's south. According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, Tehran has characterized these actions as a direct violation of the UN Charter, as well as the memorandum on the cessation of hostilities signed on June 18. The ministry further asserted that simultaneous attacks carried out by Israel in Lebanon also constitute a breach of the same agreement.
In an official statement, the ministry emphasized that Iran is exercising its legitimate right to self-defense to protect its sovereignty and national security. It noted that the recent strikes by the Iranian Armed Forces against targets associated with US forces were executed within this framework. Tehran explicitly stated that the United States and its collaborating partners bear full responsibility for the consequences of these escalations.
The Iranian MFA has called upon nations located along the southern coast of the Persian Gulf to refrain from allowing their territories or infrastructure to be utilized for operations against Iran. Furthermore, the ministry has urged the United Nations, the UN Security Council, and other international bodies to take immediate action against what it describes as US violations of international law. These developments occur against a backdrop of heightened geopolitical tensions in the Middle East, where diplomatic efforts to maintain regional stability have faced significant challenges in recent months.
