Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has described his relationship with President Vladimir Putin as a friendship.

The Operative Information Center-OMM reports that Lavrov made the remarks in an interview with the Sama Menshova online project.

According to Lavrov, they are carrying out a shared mission entrusted to them by the people, placing both sides under significant responsibility.

“If by friendship you mean joint work in which each person trusts the other and seeks to support them, then yes,” the Russian foreign minister said.

Lavrov noted that he has served as foreign minister for 22 years. During this period, he said, he and Putin had managed to form a united team in their work.

Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin described Myanmar President Min Aung Hlaing as a friend of Russia.

Putin said diplomatic relations between the two countries were established in 1948 and had developed steadily since then. He added that the ties had acquired a particularly trusting nature in recent years.

Russia and Myanmar maintain diplomatic relations and cooperate in a number of political, economic and security areas. Moscow has traditionally regarded its relations with partners in Southeast Asia as an important element of its foreign policy.
