Israeli forces assaulted a shepherd and ran over several of his sheep during an incursion into the countryside of Quneitra in southern Syria on Thursday, killing the animals, Syrian state news agency SANA reported.
The force beat the shepherd between Al-Asha village and Al-Rafid town before withdrawing from the area, according to SANA.
SANA also reported that Israeli forces detained a civilian on Tuesday while he was herding sheep west of Al-Rafid, releasing him the following day.
Repeated incursions in Quneitra
Quneitra province, which borders the occupied Syrian Golan Heights, has seen repeated Israeli incursions involving searches of homes and vehicles, as well as the establishment of temporary military checkpoints.
Israel has occupied most of the Syrian Golan Heights since 1967. Following the fall of Bashar Assad’s government in late 2024, Israel declared the 1974 disengagement agreement void and occupied the Syrian buffer zone and other positions, including the Syrian side of Mount Hermon, known in Arabic as Jabal al-Sheikh.
Israel also occupies Palestinian and Lebanese territories and has refused to withdraw from them or support the establishment of an independent Palestinian state in line with relevant United Nations resolutions.
