Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has seized two commercial vessels in the strategic Strait of Hormuz.

Operative Information Center-OMM reports that the IRGC Navy intercepted the vessels, identified as the "MSC Francesca" and the "Epaminodes," and directed them toward the Iranian coast.

According to official statements, the IRGC claims the ships manipulated their tracking systems and violated maritime navigation rules, creating a safety hazard in the busy waterway. The IRGC emphasized that security in the Strait of Hormuz is a "red line" for Tehran, adding that the move comes in response to the U.S. blockade of Iranian ports. The incident occurred just hours after a statement by US President Donald Trump regarding the extension of a regional ceasefire.

The Strait of Hormuz is considered one of the world's most critical maritime corridors, serving as a transit point for a significant portion of global oil supplies. Geopolitical tensions in the region have intensified recently, particularly concerning maritime security and the enforcement of international sanctions. This latest development underscores the ongoing friction between Tehran and Washington under the administration of US President Donald Trump, as the international community monitors the stability of global energy routes.
