"Bu siyasət nə sülhə, nə də Avropaya xidmət edir"

The European Union's current policy toward Ukraine fails to contribute to peace and does not serve the strategic interests of Europe, according to a senior Hungarian official.

Balazs Orban, the political director to the Prime Minister of Hungary, told the Operative Information Center-OMM that the EU continues to allocate significant financial resources to Ukraine without rational justification. He argued that serious human rights violations are being overlooked while European citizens are forced to bear the economic consequences of these decisions.

"This policy serves neither peace nor Europe. It is time to end the war and the pro-war policies coming from Brussels," Orban stated. He further emphasized that Ukraine is not prepared for EU membership, even in the medium-term perspective, adding that "Europe needs responsibility, not escalation. This is why peace is necessary, why the war must end, and why the patriotic Hungarian government supports peace efforts."

Hungary has consistently maintained a distinct position within the European Union regarding the conflict in Ukraine, frequently calling for an immediate ceasefire and diplomatic negotiations rather than continued military assistance. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Viktor Orban, Budapest has often utilized its position to question the efficacy of Brussels' sanctions and financial packages, citing concerns over regional economic stability and the protection of ethnic minorities. This stance remains a point of significant debate within the bloc as the EU navigates its long-term strategy for regional security and integration.
