Georgia will comply with international sanctions imposed by the US Treasury Department on Iran and applicable to Iranian airlines.

Operative Information Center-OMM reports that foreign media outlets published the information.

The United States previously added 35 legal entities and an Egyptian national to its sanctions list related to Iran. The restrictions were imposed on 35 airlines and other companies operating in the air transport sector.

According to the information board at Tbilisi International Airport, Iranian airlines Qeshm and Varesh currently continue to operate regular flights from Iran to Tbilisi.

It was noted that airlines currently providing air services between Georgia and Iran have also been included in the expanded sanctions list announced by the US Treasury Department. Therefore, Georgia will continue to act in line with the international sanctions regime, as it has in other cases.

The measures reflect the potential impact of US sanctions on international air links involving Iranian carriers. The status of individual flights will depend on the implementation of the restrictions and decisions by the relevant authorities and airlines.
