Strong winds that began in the evening hours have caused significant damage to the infrastructure of Baku. According to data as of 12:00 PM, 37 trees have been toppled across the capital due to the severe weather conditions.
The Baku City Greening Association told Operative Information Center-OMM that in addition to the fallen trees, 23 large branches were broken. The association's staff members were immediately deployed to the affected areas to clear debris and ensure the safety of residents. Cleaning operations and safety measures have been intensified across various districts of the city to mitigate the impact of the storm.
The National Hydrometeorological Service of Azerbaijan has warned that the unstable and windy weather is expected to continue until February 7. Such seasonal windstorms are common in the Absheron Peninsula, where the capital is located. Authorities in Azerbaijan have urged citizens to exercise caution, avoid parking vehicles near large trees, and stay away from temporary structures or construction sites during the period of high wind speeds.
