The Ministry of Emergency Situations of Azerbaijan has issued an urgent warning to the public regarding unstable weather conditions expected in the coming days. According to the ministry, forecasts indicate intense rainfall, lightning, and strong winds across various regions of Azerbaijan, with a specific risk of short-term flash floods in certain mountain rivers.
In a statement provided to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the ministry advised citizens to exercise extreme caution. During periods of strong wind, individuals are urged to stay away from light constructions, temporary structures, buildings, and billboards. The ministry also recommended avoiding standing under power lines, electrical poles, or tall trees. Furthermore, small vessel operators are strictly prohibited from entering the sea during these hazardous conditions.
To mitigate the risks of lightning and flooding, the ministry suggests disconnecting electrical appliances and avoiding the use of telephones during storms. In the event of flash floods, residents in vulnerable areas should immediately seek higher ground. Azerbaijan's Ministry of Emergency Situations frequently issues such advisories during seasonal transitions to ensure public safety and minimize the impact of natural disasters on the country's infrastructure and population.
