Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan addressed journalists and local residents after performing the holiday prayer in the Guneysu district of his native Rize province.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports that the head of state emphasized that the Islamic world is passing through difficult days and described the situation in the Middle East as critical.
“It is known that the Middle East is currently boiling. The Islamic world is in the midst of very serious hardships. We are constantly giving martyrs. May Allah protect us from the scourge of the Zionists,” he stated.
The Turkish leader underscored the necessity of unity among Muslims and highlighted the importance of strengthening the bonds of brotherhood to address regional challenges. He further noted that Israel would eventually pay the price for the massacres it has committed in the region, reiterating Turkey's firm stance on the ongoing conflict in Gaza.
The statements come amid heightened regional instability and a prolonged humanitarian crisis in the Palestinian territories. Turkey has remained one of the most vocal critics of military operations in Gaza, frequently calling for an immediate ceasefire and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state based on the 1967 borders. Erdogan's remarks reflect Ankara's broader foreign policy objective to position itself as a leading advocate for Muslim interests and regional stability in the Middle East.
