Prime Minister Ali Asadov met with Thomas Konietzko, President of the International Canoe Federation (ICF), and Jean Zoungrana, President of the European Canoe Association (ECA), to discuss the advancement of water sports and rowing in Azerbaijan. The meeting focused on strengthening international cooperation and enhancing the country's athletic infrastructure.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the Cabinet of Ministers released an official statement highlighting that the development of sports remains a key priority of Azerbaijan's state policy. During the discussions, the guests were briefed on the comprehensive measures taken to promote water sports and the strategic importance of the upcoming Memorandum of Understanding to be signed between the Azerbaijan Canoe and Rowing Federation and the European Canoe Association.
The international sports officials expressed their appreciation for the favorable conditions created for rowing in Azerbaijan and the high-level organization of sporting events. Over the past decade, Azerbaijan has established itself as a premier destination for international competitions, utilizing natural and artificial water bodies in regions like Mingachevir and the liberated territories for professional training. This meeting underscores Azerbaijan's commitment to integrating into the global sports community and fostering a healthy lifestyle among its youth through professional athletic programs.
