A 5.1 magnitude earthquake was recorded in the Gabala region of Azerbaijan on June 12, 2026, at 15:13 local time, according to data provided by the Republican Seismic Survey Center under the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences to the Ministry of Emergency Situations' Crisis Management Center.

The seismic event occurred at a depth of 42 kilometers, approximately 11 kilometers southwest of the Gabala seismic station. According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the tremors were felt with an intensity ranging from 3 to 5 on the MSK-64 scale in the epicenter and nearby residential areas.

Gurban Yetirmishli, General Director of the Republican Seismic Survey Center, confirmed in a statement to the Operative Information Center-OMM that while the earthquake was significant, there have been no reports of structural damage or casualties to the Ministry of Emergency Situations thus far.

The tremors were reportedly felt across several regions, including Aghdam, Shamkir, Goygol, and Guba. Azerbaijan is located in a seismically active zone, specifically within the Alpine-Himalayan belt, which frequently experiences seismic activity. The Republican Seismic Survey Center maintains a network of monitoring stations across the country to track such events and provide timely data to government agencies and the public to ensure safety and disaster preparedness.
