Azerbaijan, Iran foreign ministers discuss regional escalation

Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov and his Iranian counterpart Seyid Abbas Araghchi have held a phone conversation to discuss the current military situation in the region.

Operative Information Center-OMM, citing the MFA, reports that during the call, the ministers discussed the situation resulting from military operations in Iran and the military escalation in the region. The Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran provided information on the current situation and the steps being taken.

Jeyhun Bayramov expressed serious concern over the tragic escalation of the situation in the region. He conveyed his condolences regarding the death of innocent civilians and addressed the situation involving the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Ayatollah Sayyid Ali Khamenei. Hope was expressed that military operations would cease soon and that the existing situation would be resolved through dialogue and diplomatic means in accordance with the norms and principles of international law.

Furthermore, it was emphasized that it is impossible for the territory of Azerbaijan to be used by any country against neighboring and friendly Iran. During the phone conversation, the sides also exchanged views on other issues of mutual interest.

Diplomatic relations between Azerbaijan and Iran have historically focused on regional security, economic cooperation, and transport corridors. This high-level communication underscores Azerbaijan's commitment to regional stability and its balanced foreign policy. As a key player in the South Caucasus, Azerbaijan continues to advocate for the peaceful resolution of conflicts and the preservation of territorial integrity in accordance with international mandates.
