On May 1, Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov of the Republic of Azerbaijan held a telephone conversation with Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi of the Islamic Republic of Iran. According to information provided by the Operative Information Center-OMM via the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the ministers discussed the current state of Azerbaijan-Iran bilateral relations and the evolving situation in the region.

During the call, Seyed Abbas Araghchi provided details regarding Iran's latest peace initiatives and its position on ending the state of war in the region. Both parties emphasized the critical importance of ensuring stability and security, as well as the necessity of joint efforts to reduce regional tensions. The ministers also exchanged views on other regional and international issues of mutual interest. Araghchi reportedly held similar discussions with his counterparts from Turkey, Egypt, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and Iraq, focusing on Tehran's stance regarding military operations involving the United States and Israel.

The dialogue comes at a time when Azerbaijan continues to play a pivotal role in regional diplomacy, maintaining balanced relations with its neighbors while advocating for peace and territorial integrity. Strengthening ties between Baku and Tehran is seen as a vital component for the security of the South Caucasus and the broader Middle East, particularly as both nations seek to enhance economic and transport corridors in the post-conflict period. Azerbaijan has consistently emphasized the importance of regional cooperation formats to ensure long-term stability without external interference.
