Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov met with the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Thailand, Sihasak Phuangketkeou, during his working visit to Bangkok.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) reported the meeting via its official account on X. During the discussions, the sides reviewed the current state of bilateral relations and explored future prospects for cooperation. Both ministers emphasized the significant potential for expanding political dialogue, economic and trade ties, as well as collaboration in the fields of culture and tourism.
A key highlight of the meeting was the announcement regarding the opening of the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Thailand, scheduled for December 2025. This move, along with the commencement of the first political consultations between the two foreign ministries, was noted as a crucial stage in strengthening the institutional foundations of bilateral relations. The importance of increasing cooperation within multilateral platforms, such as the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP), was also underscored.
Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov provided his counterpart with detailed information regarding Azerbaijan's post-conflict peace agenda, ongoing demining activities, and the large-scale restoration and reconstruction work being carried out in the liberated territories. Furthermore, the ministers exchanged views on regional security issues and the current situation in the Middle East. This diplomatic engagement reflects Azerbaijan's strategic efforts to diversify its foreign policy and enhance its presence in Southeast Asia through active partnership with key regional players like Thailand.
