Barcelona midfielder Gavi has revealed how he has coped psychologically with injuries.
"Operative Information Center-OMM" reports that, according to the footballer, he has not consulted a psychologist so far but would like to do so in the future. In an interview, Gavi said psychological support can be beneficial regardless of whether a person feels bad or well.
“Seeing a psychologist is always beneficial. It does not matter whether you feel bad or even good — it is still important. I have not seen a psychologist so far, but I would like to. I isolated myself among my family, and that helped me a lot,” Gavi said.
According to Spain’s Sport newspaper, the footballer made the remarks in an interview with Men’s Health magazine.
Barcelona lead La Liga with 21 points after seven rounds. Hans-Dieter Flick’s team will play their next match against Getafe on Oct. 10.
Injuries can affect athletes not only physically but also emotionally, while psychological support is increasingly regarded as an important part of recovery and a return to competitive sport.
