Bakıda yeni yolun yarısı hazırdır

Construction of the new highway connecting Hasan Aliyev Street to the Koroglu metro station in Baku, running parallel to Ziya Bunyadov Avenue, is approximately 50% complete.

Fariz Azizov, Advisor to the Chairman of the Board for Institutional Development at the State Agency of Azerbaijan Automobile Roads (AAYDA), announced the progress during the "New Era of Development" event held as part of the 13th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13) in Baku, Operative Information Center-OMM reports.

According to Azizov, the project includes the construction of four tunnels, an underground pedestrian crossing, and continuous traffic solutions designed to create alternative east-west urban links. "The project aims to improve the mobility balance between various parts of the city while significantly reducing structural pressure on Heydar Aliyev and Ziya Bunyadov avenues," the advisor stated.

Azizov further noted that AAYDA is currently overseeing 26 major road infrastructure projects, several of which are in the active phase of construction. A key priority is the Bilgah-Novkhani-Pirshaghi-Sumgait highway, which will link the M1 Baku-Guba and M4 Baku-Shamakhi motorways. This bypass will allow regional transport and logistics flows from the northeastern settlements of the Absheron Peninsula to reach northern and western directions without entering central Baku, thereby mitigating traffic congestion and environmental impact in the capital.

The World Urban Forum (WUF), established by the United Nations, is the premier global conference on sustainable urbanization. The hosting of WUF13 events in Azerbaijan highlights the country's commitment to modernizing its urban infrastructure and implementing innovative transport solutions in line with international standards.
