A freight train transporting Russian wheat to Armenia via the territory of Azerbaijan has departed from the Bilajari station of Azerbaijan Railways CJSC.
According to Report, the shipment consists of 39 railcars carrying a total of 2,725 tons of wheat. The cargo is currently en route from the Bilajari station toward the Boyuk Kasik border crossing.
This transit operation underscores the ongoing logistical cooperation involving regional stakeholders. To date, significant volumes of goods have been transported from Russia to Armenia via Azerbaijan, including over 44,000 tons of grain, approximately 9,000 tons of fertilizer, 1,136 tons of propane, 133 tons of aluminum, 1,114 tons of coal, and 67 tons of timber. Furthermore, approximately 15,000 tons of diesel and nearly 5,000 tons of AI-92 and AI-95 gasoline have been exported to Armenia through these transit channels.
The use of Azerbaijani transit routes for regional trade is part of broader efforts to enhance connectivity in the South Caucasus. Azerbaijan's strategic location serves as a critical link in international transport corridors, facilitating the movement of goods between neighboring states and contributing to regional economic stability.
