In the first five months of this year, Azerbaijan exported goods worth 11 million 273 thousand US dollars to Armenia, according to data provided by the State Customs Committee to the Operative Information Center-OMM.
According to the report, 1.627 million dollars of this total volume was recorded in May alone.
During the same five-month period, the value of Azerbaijan's indirect imports from Armenia totaled only 960 US dollars, with no imports recorded from the country last month.
The State Customs Committee plays a pivotal role in regulating and monitoring the foreign trade activities of the Republic of Azerbaijan. By tracking import and export data, the committee provides essential transparency regarding the country's economic interactions and trade balance, which are critical indicators of national economic health.
For context, during the January-May period of this year, Azerbaijan conducted foreign trade operations totaling 20 billion 788 million US dollars, a 0.85% decrease compared to the same period last year. Of this total, 13 billion 970 million US dollars accounted for exports, while 6 billion 818 million US dollars accounted for imports. Consequently, the foreign trade balance resulted in a surplus of 7 billion 152 million dollars, which is 6.9 times higher than the annual comparison.
