The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan has expressed its condolences to Japan following a devastating earthquake that struck the country's Kumamoto Prefecture.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs shared an official statement regarding the incident on its official "X" social media account.
"We extend our sincere condolences to the government and people of Japan, especially to the families who have lost their loved ones. We wish a speedy recovery to all those injured and hope that the affected communities will overcome the consequences of this tragedy as soon as possible," the statement read.
Japan is located along the Pacific Ring of Fire, a region known for high seismic activity, making earthquakes a frequent occurrence in the archipelago. The country maintains rigorous building codes and disaster preparedness protocols to mitigate the impact of such natural disasters. Azerbaijan and Japan have historically maintained friendly diplomatic relations, with both nations frequently expressing solidarity during times of crisis and natural disasters.
