Azerbaijan and Kyrgyzstan have officially established sister city relations between six of their municipalities, marking a significant step in deepening bilateral ties.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the exchange ceremony for the signed documents took place on July 31, with the participation of President Ilham Aliyev and President Sadyr Japarov.
Under the new agreements, memoranda of understanding were signed to establish cooperation and sister city relations between the following pairs: Azerbaijan's Shusha and Kyrgyzstan's Cholpon-Ata; Gabala and Karakol; and Ganja and Osh.
These agreements are part of a broader effort by Baku and Bishkek to enhance regional cooperation and cultural exchange. By fostering direct ties between these cities, both nations aim to facilitate joint projects in tourism, urban development, and cultural heritage preservation, further solidifying the strategic partnership between Azerbaijan and Kyrgyzstan.
