The United Nations has expressed its gratitude to Azerbaijan for its significant contribution, alongside UN-Habitat, to the success of the WUF13 forum. According to Operative Information Center-OMM, UN Deputy Secretary-General Amina Mohammed made these remarks during the closing ceremony of the 13th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13).
"I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the government and people of Azerbaijan for their exceptional hospitality and leadership in hosting WUF13 here in Baku," Amina Mohammed stated. She also extended her thanks to UN staff in Azerbaijan, UN-Habitat, and the entire UN system for their unwavering commitment and professionalism, which played a key role in the forum's success.
The World Urban Forum, established by the United Nations in 2001, is the premier global conference on sustainable urbanization. By hosting the 13th session in Baku, Azerbaijan continues to strengthen its role as a major international hub for high-level diplomatic and developmental dialogue. The event serves as a critical platform for policymakers, urban planners, and civil society to address the challenges of rapid urbanization and its impact on communities, cities, and the environment.
