Restoration and reinforcement works have commenced on the Altiaghaj-Khizi highway following landslides triggered by intensive rainfall in the region. Operative measures are currently being implemented to eliminate the consequences of the natural disaster and ensure the stability of the infrastructure.

The State Agency of Azerbaijan Automobile Roads (AAYDA) told Operative Information Center-OMM that a significant amount of manpower, specialized machinery, and technical mechanisms have been deployed to the site. The ongoing operations include the restoration of road sections deformed by the landslide, the removal of displaced soil masses, and the comprehensive reinforcement of the roadbed to prevent future shifts.

The primary objective of these measures is to ensure the safety of motor vehicle movement and achieve the full restoration of transport links in the area. The Altiaghaj-Khizi route serves as a vital corridor for the country's tourism sector, providing access to mountainous recreational zones. In addition to the works in Khizi, the agency announced plans to mitigate the effects of rain and floodwaters on a total of 25 roads across Azerbaijan. This nationwide initiative includes the repair of damaged bridges and culverts, as well as the strengthening of protective structures in high-risk zones to minimize weather-related infrastructure risks.
