The State Security Service (SSS) of Azerbaijan continues to operate effectively in detecting and preventing threats directed against the country, strengthening state independence and territorial integrity, and protecting the constitutional order. Colonel General Ali Naghiyev, Head of the State Security Service, emphasized these points during an event dedicated to March 28 — the professional holiday of Azerbaijan's security agency employees and the 107th anniversary of their establishment.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports that the SSS chief highlighted the agency's success in neutralizing the intelligence-disruptive activities of foreign special services, combating terrorism, and ensuring the protection of state secrets. Naghiyev noted that the personnel remain committed to the principles of statehood and national interests in the face of evolving regional challenges.
“We learn the love for the Motherland and the principles of statehood from the eternal legacy of the Great Leader. Today, the personnel of the State Security Service are proud to be the graduates of the magnificent school of professionalism created by a genius personality like Heydar Aliyev, which is based on national traditions,” Ali Naghiyev stated during his address.
The security agencies of Azerbaijan trace their history back to March 28, 1919, when the first national intelligence body was established under the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic. Following the restoration of independence, the service was modernized under the leadership of Heydar Aliyev, who served in the security organs for many years. Today, the SSS plays a pivotal role in maintaining stability in the South Caucasus and ensuring the security of Azerbaijan's strategic energy and transport infrastructure.
