Azerbaijan has intensified the implementation of large-scale economic initiatives aimed at diversifying the economy and ensuring sustainable growth in recent years.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports that Prime Minister Ali Asadov made these remarks during his speech at the meeting of the CIS Council of Heads of Government in Ashgabat today.
"Today, Azerbaijan is confidently moving forward on the path of sustainable and comprehensive development. Industry, agriculture, the transport-logistics sector, and high-tech areas of the economy are developing consistently," Ali Asadov noted.
According to the Prime Minister, the development of "green energy" remains one of the main priorities of state policy: "Large-scale projects in the field of renewable energy sources not only contribute to strengthening environmental sustainability but also serve to expand the country's investment and export potential."
Ali Asadov emphasized that special attention is being paid to the restoration of the Garabagh region, where a qualitatively new model of sustainable development is being implemented through the creation of "green energy zones" and the application of modern infrastructure solutions, innovative technologies, and the concepts of "smart cities" and "smart villages."
"Already today, the region is becoming an important space for economic activity, investments, and sustainable development," he added.
Ali Asadov noted that Azerbaijan is strengthening its role as a reliable transport and logistics hub connecting Europe and Asia: "The implementation of large-scale infrastructure projects and the development of international transport corridors contribute to the expansion of the country's transit potential and the strengthening of logistical interconnection."
The Prime Minister pointed out that Azerbaijan has activated the implementation of large-scale economic initiatives aimed at diversifying the economy and ensuring sustainable growth in recent years:
"In December 2025, the Strategy for the Development of the Digital Economy for 2026–2029 was approved, which envisages the rapid development of the technological sector, innovations, and digital transformation. Overall, these initiatives, along with the steady growth of the non-oil sector and the expansion of international economic cooperation, contribute to the formation of Azerbaijan's new economic model focused on technology, infrastructure development, and regional integration."
The strategic focus on the non-oil sector comes as Azerbaijan continues to leverage its geographical position as a bridge between East and West. By investing heavily in the Middle Corridor and digital infrastructure, the government aims to reduce dependence on hydrocarbon exports. These reforms are part of the "Azerbaijan 2030: National Priorities for Socio-Economic Development," a roadmap designed to ensure long-term prosperity and environmental resilience in the Republic of Azerbaijan.
