China condemns deadly attack on Pakistan police complex

China has condemned a deadly attack on a police complex in northwestern Pakistan and reaffirmed its support for Islamabad’s counterterrorism efforts, according to China’s Foreign Ministry.

Foreign Ministry spokesman Guo Jiakun said on Monday that Beijing “strongly condemns” the attack in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province and extended condolences to the victims and their families.

“Terrorism is a common enemy of humanity. Fighting terrorism is in the shared interests of all countries,” Guo said.

At least 24 people killed

Two successive suicide bombings struck near a mosque inside the Old Police Lines complex in Kohat district on Friday, killing at least 24 people, including 18 police officers and six civilians.

At least eight “terrorists” were also killed during anti-militant operations that lasted around 21 hours, according to Pakistani officials.

China pledges continued support

Guo said China would continue to support Pakistan’s counterterrorism efforts and called on countries to work together against the threat of terrorism.

“We call on all countries to join forces in tackling the threat of terrorism and safeguard global security and stability,” he said.
