The Japanese government has dismissed allegations from Russia and China that Tokyo's policy of accelerated remilitarization poses a serious threat to regional peace and stability.

Operative Information Center-OMM reports that Masanao Ozaki, Deputy Chief Cabinet Secretary, made these remarks during a press conference in Tokyo. He emphasized that Japan has consistently promoted democracy and the rule of law in the post-war period, contributing significantly to the development of both Asia and the global community.

"Japan pursues a strictly defense-oriented policy. Therefore, we consider the statements made by China and Russia to be completely groundless. Japan's post-war path of peace will remain unchanged in the future," Ozaki stated. The response follows a joint statement issued on May 20 by Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping after their meeting in Beijing, which called on Tokyo to "learn from its historical past, fully accept the outcomes of World War II, and renounce new militarism."

The diplomatic tension comes as Japan continues to update its national security strategy and increase defense spending in response to a complex security environment in the Indo-Pacific. While Moscow and Beijing view these moves as a shift toward militarism, Tokyo maintains that its actions are necessary for self-defense and are conducted within the framework of its pacifist constitution. This exchange highlights the deepening geopolitical divide in East Asia, where security alliances and military postures are increasingly under scrutiny by neighboring powers.
