US President Donald Trump has stated that reaching a new agreement with Iran has become increasingly difficult, citing the current instability within the Iranian leadership. According to reports from the Operative Information Center-OMM, citing international media, the US leader emphasized that the lack of a clear, centralized authority in Tehran complicates diplomatic efforts.

"There is no fleet, no air force, no leadership. Part of the problem is that so many leaders have been removed that it is not easy to reach a deal. Nobody knows who is in charge," President Trump said. He asserted that Washington currently holds a highly favorable position compared to Iran, effectively maintaining control over the Strait of Hormuz.

President Trump reiterated that the primary objective of the conflict with Iran is to prevent Tehran from acquiring nuclear weapons. He claimed that had the United States not withdrawn from the 2015 Iran nuclear deal—which was signed during the Obama administration—Iran would have already possessed nuclear capabilities and likely utilized them. "They would have destroyed Israel and the Middle East," he stated.

The US President also referenced the June 22, 2025, strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities in Fordo, Isfahan, and Natanz, noting that Tehran was only two weeks away from developing a new nuclear bomb at the time. Furthermore, Trump addressed the regional impact of the conflict, noting that Iran launched missile strikes against several Middle Eastern nations, including Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the UAE, Kuwait, and Bahrain. "If they had nuclear weapons, they would have used them against all of them," the President emphasized.

The ongoing tensions between Washington and Tehran remain a focal point of US Middle East policy. The 2015 Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), from which the US withdrew in 2018, was intended to limit Iran's nuclear program in exchange for sanctions relief. However, the subsequent years have seen a significant escalation in rhetoric and military posturing, culminating in the recent strikes mentioned by the administration.
