A munitions explosion has occurred in the territory of Zeylik village in the Kalbajar district.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the Prosecutor General's Office, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and the Azerbaijan National Agency for Mine Action (ANAMA) released a joint statement regarding the incident.
It was reported that Sarkhan Alasgar oglu Isgandarov, a resident of the Gazakh district born in 1987, sustained injuries due to a munitions explosion while grazing livestock in an area that has not yet been cleared of mines.
The Kalbajar District Prosecutor's Office is currently investigating the incident.
Kalbajar, which was liberated from occupation in 2020, remains heavily contaminated with landmines and unexploded ordnance planted during the decades of occupation. These hazardous materials pose a significant threat to the safety of civilians and hinder the extensive reconstruction and resettlement efforts currently underway in the region as part of the Great Return program.
