Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic has arrived in Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine, for an official visit.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the Serbian leader announced his arrival via his official Instagram account.
Vucic stated that he had traveled a long distance from Paris, passing through Moldova and central Ukraine to reach Kyiv. Despite the fatigue from the journey, he emphasized his commitment to continuing the visit to defend Serbia's national interests.
The Serbian President is scheduled to participate in the "South-East Europe – Ukraine" summit during his visit. Vucic expressed hope that, despite the complexity of the discussions, regional countries will continue their cooperation on the European path and that bilateral relations will continue to develop.
Meanwhile, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov stated that Moscow has not sent any messages to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy through Vucic. He also dismissed speculation regarding Serbia potentially acting as a mediator in the Russia-Ukraine conflict.
Grigory Karasin, Chairman of the Committee on International Affairs of the Federation Council of Russia, advised against making hasty judgments regarding the Serbian leader's visit, suggesting that Vucic may have specific initiatives regarding the settlement of the conflict.
It is worth noting that Aleksandar Vucic made his first visit to Ukraine in June 2025. At that time, he announced financial support for Ukraine's reconstruction and highlighted Kyiv's non-recognition of Kosovo's independence as a crucial factor in Serbia-Ukraine relations. This ongoing diplomatic engagement underscores the complex balancing act Serbia maintains between its European aspirations and its traditional ties with Russia.
