Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic has extended an official invitation to Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze to visit Belgrade this autumn, expressing optimism that the two nations will finalize a free trade agreement during the visit.

According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, President Vucic announced the invitation during a press conference held in Tbilisi.

The Serbian leader suggested that Prime Minister Kobakhidze could visit Serbia ahead of the "Vine Vision" wine exhibition, which is scheduled to take place in Belgrade from October 10 to 12. "I hope the Prime Minister will find time for a bilateral visit before the event in Belgrade. I am hopeful that we will sign a free trade agreement by that time, at the latest," Vucic stated.

Previously, President Vucic indicated that Belgrade and Tbilisi had reached a consensus on the terms of the free trade agreement, noting that nearly all contentious issues had been resolved. This development marks a significant step in strengthening bilateral economic ties between the two countries.

President Vucic is currently on a visit to Georgia, which concludes on June 17. This visit is historic as it represents the first official trip by a Serbian president to Georgia. The Serbian delegation accompanying the President includes Minister of Internal and Foreign Trade Jagoda Lazarevic, as well as Minister of Agriculture, Forestry, and Water Management Dragan Glamocic.

The deepening of relations between Serbia and Georgia reflects a broader trend of expanding economic cooperation in the Caucasus and Balkan regions. Both nations have been actively seeking to diversify their trade partners and enhance regional connectivity through strategic bilateral agreements.
