Unstable weather conditions continue to affect various parts of Azerbaijan, with intermittent rain and lightning reported across several regions.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, citing data from the National Hydrometeorological Service as of 16:00 on August 12, precipitation has intensified in specific areas, occasionally taking the form of heavy downpours.
Current reports indicate that lightning and periodic rainfall are occurring in Baku and the Absheron Peninsula, as well as in Shamakhi, Khaltan, Altiagach, Ismayilli, Dashkasan, Gadabay, Kalbajar, Gusar, Gryz, Saribash (Gakh), Kishchay (Sheki), and Shahdag.
Earlier in the day, as of 11:00, significant precipitation was recorded in various districts. Rainfall levels reached 32 mm in Gadabay and 27 mm in Balakan. Other regions, including Goygol, Gabala, Aghstafa, Shusha, Zangilan, Ganja, Naftalan, Tartar, Fuzuli, Aghdam, and Bilasuvar, also experienced varying levels of rainfall, with up to 1 mm recorded in the capital and the Absheron Peninsula.
The National Hydrometeorological Service regularly monitors these meteorological shifts to provide timely updates to the public. Such weather fluctuations are common in Azerbaijan during the summer months, often resulting from the interaction of different air masses moving across the country's diverse topography, which ranges from the Caspian coastline to the mountainous regions of the Caucasus.
