MP Fatma Yildirim, speaking at the 13th Session of the UN World Urban Forum (WUF13), highlighted that Azerbaijan is implementing innovative development models in Garabagh and East Zangilan. The session, titled "Preparation of Azerbaijan's First National Sustainability Standard: Sustainable Practices Standard (SPS)," focused on the country's commitment to environmental sensitivity and resource efficiency.

According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, Yildirim emphasized that the "Smart City" and green energy concepts being applied in the liberated territories serve as real-world examples of sustainable development. "This approach demonstrates Azerbaijan's forward-looking strategic vision. I believe today's session will significantly contribute to establishing new collaborations and strengthening the culture of sustainable management in Azerbaijan," she stated. These initiatives are part of the large-scale reconstruction projects led by President Ilham Aliyev.

The World Urban Forum (WUF), established by the United Nations, is the premier global conference on sustainable urbanization. Azerbaijan has been actively participating in international urban planning dialogues, particularly following the liberation of its territories in 2020. The "Great Return" program aims to resettle displaced persons into modern, eco-friendly settlements like the first "Smart Village" in Aghali, Zangilan, which utilizes renewable energy and digital infrastructure to ensure high living standards while minimizing environmental impact.
