A suspect has been detained for allegedly stealing funds collected in a bank account intended for the medical treatment of a minor suffering from a serious illness.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) informed Operative Information Center-OMM that a resident of the Nasimi district in Baku reported the theft to the police. The victim stated that the bank card details, which had been shared on social media platforms to solicit financial assistance for their child's treatment, were compromised through the use of information technology.
As a result of operational measures carried out by law enforcement, the suspect, identified as Orxan Hajiyev, was located and taken into custody. During his testimony, Hajiyev admitted to obtaining the confidential information of the bank card, transferring the funds to various other accounts, and subsequently withdrawing the money in cash. Investigations into the matter are currently ongoing.
