Two individuals placed on the international wanted list have been extradited from Russia to Azerbaijan, the Prosecutor General's Office told Operative Information Center-OMM.
According to the official statement, the extradition was carried out in accordance with the requirements of the Convention on Legal Assistance and Legal Relations in Civil, Family, and Criminal Matters dated October 7, 2002. Based on the motions filed by the Prosecutor General's Office of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation ensured the extradition of Azerbaijani citizens Abdul Ruslam oglu Musayev and Rustam Ahmad oglu Huseynov.
Abdul Musayev was wanted in connection with a criminal case investigated by the Main Department for Combating Organized Crime of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. Meanwhile, Rustam Huseynov was sought for criminal acts investigated by the Pirallahi District Prosecutor's Office in Baku. Both individuals had been officially charged and placed on the international wanted list before being detained in Russia. They were brought to Azerbaijan accompanied by a special convoy from the Penitentiary Service of the Ministry of Justice.
Extradition processes between Azerbaijan and Russia are governed by bilateral and multilateral legal frameworks aimed at ensuring that individuals accused of crimes do not evade justice by crossing borders. This latest cooperation highlights the ongoing legal partnership between the two nations in the field of criminal justice and the fight against organized crime. The Prosecutor General's Office continues to take systematic measures to ensure the extradition of persons who have committed crimes in Azerbaijan and fled to foreign jurisdictions.
