New paid parking zones have been established and put into operation for drivers on several streets and circles in Baku. According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, citing the Azerbaijan Yerüstü Nəqliyyat Agentliyi (AYNA), the initiative aims to streamline urban mobility in the capital.
The agency reported that parking spaces have been organized at the Abbasgulu Agha Bakikhanov circle, as well as on Maqsud Alizade, Seyid Yahya Bakuvi, and Arif Heydarov streets. Notably, special conditions and designated spots have been provided for drivers with physical disabilities to ensure accessibility across the new zones.
AYNA further noted that in the coming days, additional parking points will be commissioned on Suleyman Sani Akhundov, Samad Vurgun, Asad Ahmadov, Akim Abbasov, Nasiraddin Tusi, and General Aliagha Shikhlinski streets. These areas will undergo marking and the installation of relevant road signs. The agency emphasized that proper parking management will facilitate safer and more efficient use of streets, creating better conditions for all vehicle owners in Azerbaijan's capital.
The expansion of organized parking is part of a broader strategy by the Cabinet of Ministers and transport authorities to reduce traffic congestion in Baku. By implementing regulated parking zones, the city aims to eliminate illegal parking, which often hinders the movement of public transport and emergency vehicles. These measures are aligned with international urban planning standards to transform Baku into a more pedestrian-friendly and organized metropolitan area.
