Law enforcement authorities in Baku have successfully removed 70 kilograms of illicit narcotics from circulation following a targeted operation in the Nasimi district.

According to information provided to the Operative Information Center-OMM by the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA), the operation led to the detention of several individuals suspected of acting as drug couriers within the capital.

Official reports indicate that 51-year-old Adalat Gadimov, who had a prior criminal record, was found in possession of 22.210 kilograms of marijuana. Additionally, 44-year-old Elvin Ahmadov was detained with 29.770 kilograms of marijuana, while 39-year-old Gunel Tagiyeva and her associate, 45-year-old Aydin Gurbanov, were apprehended with 18.615 kilograms of the substance.

In their statements to investigators, the detainees admitted to planning the distribution of these narcotics to various locations throughout Baku. Criminal proceedings have been initiated regarding these incidents, and a court has ordered pre-trial detention for all suspects involved.

These efforts are critical to maintaining public safety and security across the Republic of Azerbaijan, with authorities consistently emphasizing a zero-tolerance policy toward the illegal drug trade.
