Police seize 48 kilograms of narcotics in Baku's Sabunchu district

Law enforcement authorities have seized 48 kilograms of narcotics in Baku's Sabunchu district, according to the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

The operation was reported by the Operative Information Center-OMM. During the targeted measures, police apprehended several individuals suspected of acting as drug couriers.

Specifically, officers seized 3 kilograms of marijuana and heroin from 38-year-old Javid Guliyev, who had a prior criminal record. Additionally, 20 kilograms of heroin, methamphetamine, and marijuana were confiscated from 35-year-old Gurban Aliyev. Further investigations led to the seizure of nearly 22 kilograms of marijuana, methamphetamine, and opium from 21-year-old Rahib Huseynov, while 3 kilograms of marijuana and hashish were recovered from a vehicle belonging to 32-year-old Zamin Abdullayev.

Investigations revealed that the suspects intended to distribute these illicit substances across various locations in the capital, Baku. Criminal cases have been initiated regarding these incidents, and the court has ordered the detention of all suspects pending further legal proceedings.

The fight against drug trafficking remains a priority for the Ministry of Internal Affairs in Azerbaijan. The ministry frequently conducts large-scale operations to dismantle drug distribution networks, aiming to protect public health and maintain order in the capital and throughout the country.
