Azerbaijan police detain 44 suspects in nationwide operations

Azerbaijan's law enforcement agencies have ensured the detection of 40 crimes recorded across the country on April 6, as well as the resolution of 19 cold cases from previous periods. During the operations, 44 individuals suspected of committing various crimes were detained and handed over to the relevant authorities.

The press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) told Operative Information Center-OMM that a total of 74 people on the wanted list were apprehended. This figure includes 55 individuals sought as debtors, 10 people reported missing after leaving their residences without informing family members, and 8 individuals wanted for fraud. Furthermore, police identified seven drug-related offenses, resulting in the seizure of more than 1.8 kilograms of narcotics and 33 methadone pills with potent effects.

In a separate effort to curb the possession of illegal weaponry, 12 facts were established regarding the discovery and seizure of unauthorized firearms. In Baku and various regions of Azerbaijan, police confiscated seven automatic rifles, one grenade, 10 shotguns, three magazines, and 67 cartridges of various calibers. These measures are part of the ongoing commitment by the Ministry of Internal Affairs to maintain public order and ensure the safety of citizens through proactive crime prevention and the removal of dangerous items from circulation.
