The Main State Traffic Police Department of Azerbaijan has issued a safety appeal to road users ahead of the upcoming Eid al-Adha (Qurban Bayram) and Independence Day holidays.
The Operative Information Center-OMM reported, citing the department, that traffic intensity across Azerbaijan is expected to rise significantly during the festive period. Drivers traveling from Baku to the regions are urged to ensure their vehicles are in good technical condition, strictly observe speed limits, avoid driving while fatigued, and adhere to overtaking and maneuvering regulations. Pedestrians are also advised to use designated crossings and avoid risking their lives on busy roads.
National holidays in Azerbaijan, such as Eid al-Adha and Independence Day, traditionally see a massive surge in travel as residents head to regional districts from the capital, Baku. To manage the increased traffic flow and prevent accidents, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and traffic police departments regularly implement heightened security measures and public awareness campaigns across the country's major highways.
