A yellow weather warning has been issued for several regions of Azerbaijan due to expected windy conditions on April 23. According to the National Hydrometeorological Service, western winds are forecast to reach speeds between 13.9 and 20.7 meters per second.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports that the warning applies to a wide range of territories, including Julfa, Ordubad, Quba, Qusar, Khachmaz, Khizi, Shabran, Siyazan, Gazakh, Agstafa, Shamkir, Tovuz, Lerik, Yardimli, Dashkasan, Gadabay, Ganja, Goygol, Samux, Goranboy, Naftalan, Mingachevir, Goychay, Hajigabul, Neftchala, Salyan, Sabirabad, Gobustan, Shamakhi, Kalbajar, Lachin, Jabrayil, Fuzuli, and Zangilan.
Furthermore, intermittent precipitation is expected in some mountainous and foothill regions of Azerbaijan on April 24-25. The National Hydrometeorological Service noted that there is a possibility of short-term intense rainfall, lightning, hail, and snow in high-altitude areas. Water levels in rivers are expected to rise, with potential short-term flash floods in some rivers of the Greater and Lesser Caucasus.
Weather monitoring in Azerbaijan is conducted by the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources through the National Hydrometeorological Service. The "yellow warning" indicates that the weather is potentially dangerous, advising the public to stay vigilant against risks associated with strong winds and localized flooding, particularly in mountainous terrain and near riverbeds.
