Yellow and orange weather warnings have been issued in Azerbaijan due to expected strong winds in Baku, the Absheron Peninsula, and several regions from May 25 to 27.
According to the National Hydrometeorological Service, as reported by Operative Information Center-OMM, a yellow warning has been issued for Baku, the Absheron Peninsula, Nakhchivan, Qazax, Agstafa, Tovuz, Shamkir, Ganja, Aghdam, Gadabay, Goygol, Samux, Zardab, Sabirabad, Goychay, Imishli, Balakan, Zaqatala, Qax, Sheki, Oguz, Gabala, Ismayilli, Agdash, Shamakhi, Gobustan, Quba, Qusar, Khachmaz, Shabran, Siyazan, Khizi, Neftchala, Salyan, Saatli, Lerik, Yardimli, Jalilabad, Bilasuvar, Kalbajar, Lachin, Fuzuli, Beylagan, and Zangilan. In these areas, northwest winds are expected to reach speeds of 13.9 to 20.7 meters per second.
An orange warning has been issued for Mingachevir, Barda, Tartar, Yevlax, Naftalan, Goranboy, and Dashkasan, where northwest winds are forecast to intensify to speeds of 20.8 to 28.4 meters per second. The National Hydrometeorological Service of Azerbaijan regularly monitors weather patterns and issues color-coded alerts to ensure public safety and minimize potential damage to infrastructure. Residents in the affected areas, particularly those under the orange warning, are advised to exercise caution, secure loose outdoor items, and avoid standing near tall trees or temporary structures during the high-wind period.
