Branches and representative offices of foreign media entities operating in Azerbaijan must now notify the Media Development Agency (MEDIA) within three working days of their state registration.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports that Prime Minister Ali Asadov has signed a relevant decree to this effect. The new regulation introduces an official amendment to the "Rules for maintaining, using, and protecting the state register of legal entities."
The decision aims to streamline the oversight of international media operations within the country and ensure that the national media registry remains up to date. Under the new requirements, the notification process is mandatory for all foreign press outlets establishing a legal presence in the Republic of Azerbaijan, reinforcing the regulatory framework established by the Law on Media.
The Media Development Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan, established in 2021, serves as the primary body responsible for supporting media growth, implementing communication policies, and managing the Media Registry. This latest administrative adjustment follows a series of reforms intended to modernize Azerbaijan's information space and enhance transparency in the activities of foreign journalistic organizations.
