A resident of the Agsu district has been detained and sentenced to administrative arrest following an investigation into offensive behavior on the TikTok social media platform, according to the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

The Operative Information Center-OMM was informed by the MIA that officers from the Agsu District Police Department identified the individual as 27-year-old Ilham Abdullayev. Investigations revealed that Abdullayev utilized fake accounts to post indecent and insulting remarks directed at citizens.

A protocol was subsequently drawn up under the Code of Administrative Offenses for the dissemination of prohibited information via internet resources. The case was submitted to the court for legal evaluation, resulting in a judicial decision to sentence Abdullayev to 25 days of administrative arrest.

In recent years, Azerbaijan has strengthened its legal framework regarding digital conduct and cyber-harassment to ensure the protection of citizens' rights online. Under the Republic's legislation, the dissemination of prohibited information or the use of offensive language in the digital space can lead to significant legal consequences, including fines and administrative detention, as part of broader efforts to maintain public order and digital safety in the country.
