Traffic congestion reported on major Baku roads

Heavy traffic congestion has been observed on several major roads and avenues in Baku.

Operative Information Center-OMM reports that the Intelligent Transport Management Center (ITMC) has released an official update regarding the current traffic situation in the capital.

According to the center, traffic density is currently reported at the following locations:

  1. Baku-Sumgait highway, in the direction of the "20 January" metro station;
  2. Ali Mustafayev Street, towards Ziya Bunyadov Avenue;
  3. Ziya Bunyadov Avenue, from the intersection with Ahmed Rajabli Street to the intersection with Ataturk Avenue;
  4. Ziya Bunyadov Avenue, from the intersection with Muzaffar Narimanov Street towards the "20 January" metro station;
  5. Ziya Bunyadov Avenue, from the intersection with Abdulvahab Salamzade Street towards Ahmed Rajabli Street;
  6. Tbilisi Avenue, from the "20 January" metro station towards the city center;
  7. Heydar Aliyev Avenue, main road, towards the center;
  8. Heydar Aliyev Avenue, auxiliary road, towards the center;
  9. Mikayil Mushfiq Street, from the "Badamdar" circle towards School-Lyceum No. 20;
  10. Neftchilar Avenue, towards the "Azneft" circle;
  11. Yusif Safarov Street, towards the center;
  12. Uzeyir Hajibeyli Street, up to the intersection with Azadlig Avenue;
  13. Babek Avenue, towards the center;
  14. 8 November Avenue, from the intersection with Suleyman Ahmadov Street towards the center;
  15. At the "20 January" circle;
  16. Binagadi highway, in the direction of the "Azadlig Prospekti" metro station;
  17. 1st Gol Kanari road, towards Ziya Bunyadov Avenue;
  18. 28 May Street, from the intersection with Pushkin Street to the intersection with Rashid Behbudov Street;
  19. Mirza Gadim Iravani Street, towards Khatai Avenue;
  20. Tbilisi Avenue, from the intersection with Izmir Street towards the "20 January" metro station.

The Intelligent Transport Management Center monitors the traffic flow in Azerbaijan's capital using a network of surveillance cameras and automated sensors to provide real-time updates to commuters. Such congestion is typical during peak hours in Baku as the city continues to expand its infrastructure and manage the increasing volume of vehicles entering the metropolitan area from surrounding regions.
