Heavy traffic congestion has been reported on several main roads and arteries in Baku, causing significant delays for commuters in the capital.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports that the Digital Development and Transport Agency's Intelligent Transport Management Center (NIIM) released the latest data regarding the current road conditions.
According to the official statement, traffic density is currently observed at the following locations:
- Baku-Sumgait highway, in the direction of the "20 January" metro station;
- Abdulvahab Salamzade Street, heading towards Ziya Bunyadov Avenue;
- Tbilisi Avenue, from the "20 January" metro station toward the city center;
- Tbilisi Avenue, from the intersection with Izmir Street toward the "20 January" metro station;
- Ziya Bunyadov Avenue, from the front of the Baku Olympic Stadium to the intersection with Ahmad Rajabli Street;
- Heydar Aliyev Avenue (auxiliary road), heading toward the center;
- Yusif Safarov Street, in the direction of the city center;
- Yusif Safarov Street, heading toward Heydar Aliyev Avenue;
- 28 May Street, from the intersection with Pushkin Street to the intersection with Rashid Behbudov Street;
- Dilara Aliyeva Street, from the intersection with Pushkin Street to the intersection with Rashid Behbudov Street;
- Shamsi Badalbeyli Street, from the front of "Winter Park" toward the Central Bank;
- Mikayil Mushfiq Street, from the "Badamdar" circle toward School-Lyceum No. 20.
The Intelligent Transport Management Center (NIIM) monitors traffic flow in Azerbaijan's capital using a network of cameras and sensors to optimize signal timings and provide real-time updates to drivers. Such congestion is typical during peak hours in Baku, as the city continues to expand its transport infrastructure to accommodate the growing number of vehicles in the metropolitan area.
