Officers of the Old Tbilisi Division of the Tbilisi Police Department under the Georgian Ministry of Internal Affairs have conducted a special operation against illegal drug trafficking. As a result, a foreign citizen was arrested on charges of illegal purchase, storage, and aiding the sale of a particularly large quantity of narcotics.

According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, citing the Georgian Ministry of Internal Affairs, law enforcement officers seized a large amount of drugs prepared for sale in 23 packages during a search of the defendant's residence. The investigation into the matter is currently ongoing to identify further links in the distribution chain and determine the origin of the seized substances.

Georgia has recently intensified its efforts to combat transnational drug trafficking and organized crime through enhanced surveillance and regional cooperation. The Ministry of Internal Affairs frequently conducts targeted operations in the capital and border regions to curb the distribution of illegal substances. Under Georgian law, the sale and possession of large quantities of narcotics carry severe prison sentences, reflecting the government's strict policy toward drug-related offenses and public safety.
